When I first got sucked into the addictive world of wedding blogs, I came across this hairstyle.
The Coveted Look – The Knot
I knew immediately that this style was perfect for me. It was bohemian and romantic – exactly what I wanted. It’s even from a real wedding – not a staged photo shoot! A definitely doable do.
As the months have gone by, I have found a few more pictures to add to my hair inspiration file. I began to see a trend of long, curly locks, with an unexpected braid here or there. Right on point with the bohemian/romantic style I like so much.

Knowing that the actual wedding dress might dictate what kind of hairstyle would look best, I also started to look at updos. They are a little sleeker than a down hairstyle, but still have that romantic look and don’t feel fussy.

Most of these styles require a good amount of hair. The good this is I have just that. See:
I’ve been planning a hair cut for a while now. And I always knew I would chop a good chunk off. See, I donated it to Locks of Love. From their website, Locks of Love is “a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis”. This was such an easy (and free) way to help other people in need.
Over 12 inches of my hair to be sent to Locks of Love.
I feel really happy that I’m able to help a child feel good about themselves. I never regretted cutting my hair, but I am curious to see how fast it will grow.
As I mentioned many times before, I’m an early-bird bride - meaning I’m not even engaged. An engagement is in the future and we will most likely get married in a year and a half or two. I hope it will grow fast enough to pull off these hairstyles I love.
I decided to poke around the internet to see if I found any shorter hairstyles that still make me swoon.
Victory! I found one:
Lovely, romantic, bohemian, AND shoulder length! – Daily Makeover
Her hair is probably pinned up in the back, but the idea is definitely doable with shoulder length hair. I can breathe a huge sigh of relief that I found something that could work even if my hair isn’t as long as I would like.
My plan now is to being growing out my hair. And then, right after the wedding, I’ll do the post wedding chop – and donate it again! Win-win-win!
